Central to pretty much everywhere, this modern hotel has air-con rooms designed along the lines of function before form, which makes them perfect for the weekend visitor who wants to bed down somewhere central and still keep some credit-card space for a good night out. You'd hardly know it to look at it, but the building is actually two converted Georgian townhouses - and that's where the nod to heritage ends. No matter, for you're literally steps away from Grafton St and Stephen's Green and only a quick 10-minute walk from Temple Bar. There's a totally cheesy but super-popular nightclub in the giant bar below (Fridays and Saturdays can get a little noisy; ask for a room at the back). Breakfast is also included. For the money, you won't find much better. This place is extremely popular with visitors from across the Irish Sea, many of whom are here to celebrate their mates' impending husbandom with an orgy of booze and bad T-shirts, and they're more than ably cared for by the easy-going and friendly (but expert) staff. One minor criticism is that in mid-summer the Johnson Court-facing rooms (the ones at the front) get a lot of sun and as the windows don't open all that much (to safeguard those same T-shirt-sporting wedding revellers?) they can get a little stuffy - another reason to ask for a room at the back.
