The owners of this hotel are from the Canary Islands, and their heritage shows in every aspect of the place, from the marine theme in the lobby to the rooms, which are all named after Canary towns and contain photos of the islands.

The island theme continues in the hotel's good restaurant where regional specialties abound, and the waiters and owners alike love to talk about the islands - a delightful opportunity to travel around Spain from the comfort of your hotel. Rooms are comfortable and stylish, with generous marble-lined bathrooms and cool beige and navy blue tones throughout. The beds are large and comfortable. The hotel's location is wonderfully central with all its attendant advantages and problems - close to Gran Vía, the hotel is also on the cusp of central Madrid's grittiest barrios, where wonderful buildings and locals whose families have lived here for generations coexist with their fair share of shady characters. It's very rarely dangerous, but keep your wits about you if you decide to dive in.
