Although it's sandwiched between the raging traffic of Legerova and Sokolská, the Green Garden has bags of old-fashioned character and a lovely glass-roofed 'winter garden' sitting area. Rooms on the top floor are quieter and have are great views towards the castle. The rooms are insulated from the worst of the noise from the constant traffic below. It's a stylish place with 55 good-sized rooms furnished in an elegant, contemporary style, with lots of cream and brown tones, colourful prints and curious glass lamps. The bathrooms, though, are pretty small and no more than functional. All have showers only, apart from the five apartments, which also have bathtubs. One of the rooms is fitted for disabled access. Downstairs, the 'winter garden' lounge is an inviting space to relax, filled with wicker furniture, palms and an antique bookcase. In the evenings you can sip your tea here while the pianist tinkles away in the corner.

Not the most picturesque of locations, admittedly, and you'll need to be careful when crossing the road here, but you're less than 10min south of IP Pavlova metro station. A 10min walk to the east will land you in prestigious Vinohrady, full of excellent restaurants and bars. Walk 10-15min west and you'll come upon Prague's loveliest green space, Charles University Botanic Garden.
