This grand old building on Bethlehem Square has 21 quiet and stylish rooms, including some cheaper attic rooms (if you don't mind a sloping ceiling). Breakfast is served in the atmospheric gothic cellars, while other public areas are filled with historical knick-knackery.

The building's origins go back to the 13th century, when it was constructed, apparently, as a wedding gift for a wealthy burgher's daughter. Its colourful past has included stints as a brothel and a funeral home. Today it's a peaceful little hotel with a friendly but restrained atmosphere, and a choice of tastefully furnished rooms. All have the expected 3-star mod cons, though the cheaper attic rooms are slightly smaller, and may be a little darker. Suites are spacious and filled with Victorian-style furnishings which maiden aunts will adore - quite a contrast to the large assemblage of antique swords, knives and axes adorning the walls in some public areas. The hotel offers a babysitting service, and runs a minibus to the airport, train station and elsewhere.
