Lonely Planet review

The old adage that handsome is as handsome does certainly applies to the Tria. This totally terrific hotel opened in 2007 and has already built a formidable reputation for its service and style. Extremely comfortable rooms offer tea-and-coffee making equipment, satellite TV, work desk and large bed; all are attractively decorated with polished floorboards, silk curtains, embroidered bedspreads and objets d'art.
There's a comfortable lounge on the ground floor and a wonderful roof terrace furnished with cane armchairs and huge umbrellas - a perfect spot to view the Sea of Marmara, Aya Sofya and the Blue Mosque.

How to get there

From Istanbul Ataturk Airport (ATA):
Distance to Tria Hotel Istanbul is 17 kilometres, approximately 20 minutes' drive.

Getting there. Both airport terminals are connected to the metro system, which runs to the city centre. Single tickets cost about 1 TRY. Alight at Zeytinburnu Station, and take the tram to Sultan Ahmed Station. The hotel is a seven-minute walk from there. Taxis wait outside Arrivals; fixed prices are in place and the fare to the Tria Hotel should be about 20 TRY. At night, there is a 50 percent surcharge. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. Istanbul's extensive public transport system includes buses, metros (underground trains), trains, trams, sea buses, and ferries. Tickets can be purchased from main stops, stations, or kiosks prior to boarding. Istanbul's yellow taxis are reasonably priced, but travellers should ensure the meter is used. A cheaper alternative is to use a 'dolmus' (minibus or shared taxi). Driving is not advised for visitors.

Take the coastal road directly to Sultanahmet, and the Tria Hotel.
