Address: Via ulrico hoepli 6 , Milan 20121, Italy Show on map
Don't let the rather odd, business block appearance of this hotel fool you. Once inside it's a welcoming, comfortable, old-school hotel, with renovated rooms, great service and a wonderful location. This four-star superior hotel is indeed an odd little fish. Decidedly dull from the exterior, only once inside does the hotel reveal its charms. With cherry wood-panelling, floral carpets, fresh flowers, and a warm welcome, it turns out to be a good address. And it most certainly is well positioned, just a block off the shopping of the Duomo area and Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II. Apart from the decent-sized single rooms, there's a choice of renovated or older-style doubles. In keeping with the feel of the hotel, the older-style rooms are a better fit. One thing that hasn't changed, however, is the lovely Italian marble-clad bathrooms. There's a great little lap pool on the roof with views of the Duomo's Madonnina and a small spa and gym.

This is a great spot as most of Milan's sights and shopping are within a comfortable walking distance. At night, if you're too tired, you can just head to the hotel's L'Opéra restaurant, which is well regarded. A recent opening just around the corner at Piazza Liberty has Formula One fans excited - the first official Ferrari store outside of Maranello.
The swimming pool has a transparent cupola.
