Address: Piazza duca d aosta 9 , Milan 20124, Italy Show on map
Easily the most glamorous thing about the Stazione Centrale area, this grand old hotel opened in 1932 and has now been renovated to good effect, with upgraded facilities and noticeably better service.Although this is a Le Meridien hotel, its fabulous Art-Nouveau facade is thankfully unadorned with modern signage, but benefits from the feature list of the Meridien chain. Once inside, it lacks the buzz of Milan's other grand hotels, although the Baboon Bar is particularly eye-catching. The best rooms are easily the Art-Deco ones, located in the old wing, as the French-style rooms are nothing special. From the handsome Art-Deco typeface of the numbers on the doors to the period-style furniture, these are splendid rooms, with wonderful marble bathrooms. While the service here is a little offhand, it can't compare with what awaits you outside the doors. Despite efforts to clean up the area outside Stazione Centrale, even during the day this is not a great spot.

You'll be catching taxis everywhere from here, and not just because of the distance to the sights! While the pickpockets are professional, the drunks are also dedicated, so a walk through the piazza outside the hotel isn't a great idea.
Ernest Hemmingway and Maria Callas are just a couple of the famous guests who have rested their heads here.
