An intimate little gem, the Villa la Tour nestles within the walls of an 18th-century convent with exquisite rooms and a coveted location as the only hotel inside Nice's enticing old town.

Run personally by owner Barbara Kimmig, Villa la Tour's ground floor salon houses antiques, leather lounges, and a long communal candlelit table where Barbara serves classical French breakfasts. Organza curtains frame the windows of air-conditioned rooms, each individually decorated with rustic touches like French-washed walls, coir carpets, glazed checkerboard-tiled bathrooms with oversize showers and fragrant soaps from the Fragonard perfumery in Grasse, and quirky details like bedside lamps designed like chic little paper shopping bags. Four rooms have romantic balconies, and the more expensive rooms look out over the old town. Climb the narrow stairs to reach the tiny rooftop terrace crowned by the neighbouring St François clock tower.
