Address: 69 victoria road camps bay , Cape town 8001, South africa Show on map
This old favourite has been a staple of the Camps Bay shoreline for years. It's a popular hangout for the well-heeled, with a total three swimming pools, not counting the Atlantic ocean just across the road, and decent sized if somewhat blandly decorated rooms. The sickly pastels that used to prevail in the Bay colour scheme have thankfully been replaced with a more subtle set of pale neutrals, inspired no doubt by the sands of Camps Bay beach. The lobby features acres of cool white marble, with a little deli shop at the front overlooking the bay. The bedrooms are large, with a separate sitting area and an outdoor terrace - if you really want to be close to the beach action ask for one of the Cabana rooms closest to the beach and pool. The Tides restaurant is also decorated in smart, muted colours, with wicker chairs and navy carpets. You can admire the beach views while sampling the delights on their menu, from Cape Rock Lobster to Karoo Lamb or lemon-infused crème brûlée.
