This old-fashioned Cape Dutch-style hotel sports a top floor with more modern rooms, and a heated pool. The sunny veranda at the front is popular with locals drinking after work and watching the sunset over Green Point. The rooms here face the mountain, the sea or the lovely courtyard, in which Sunday brunch with live jazz is held every weekend. They come in two styles - the older ones are decorated in a heavy Regency style, with smart white and green paintwork, Monet prints on the walls and chandeliers. The top-floor rooms, however, are completely different, with a far more contemporary feel coming from their neutral colours, unbleached cotton bedlinen, orange silk cushions and abstract modern art prints on the walls. The hotel's corridors are verandas running around the inner courtyard, which is covered in flowering bouganvillea and has a tinkling fountain at its centre. Inside, there's a sunny, modern dining room and a polished wooden bar.
