The latest addition to the Union empire is the former Hotel Astral, a warm and friendly hotel that caters predominantly to business customers midweek and leisure travellers at weekends. Long, monotonous corridors give way to attractive, good-sized and attractively furnished rooms.

Barely five minutes' walk from the train station, the Central Hotel is the third Grand Union property on Miklošiceva cesta and the least interesting of the three. But there are big plans afoot for this one-time functional, socialist-style hotel. A brand new, suitably sophisticated name wil be introduced to go with the upgraded service associated with the Grand Union brand. For the time being, however, guests will have to make do with glitter-ball lobby look - 1970s mirrors, fake plants and the kind of carpet colours that went out with flares.
