Straddling the border between the new town and the historic center, the Amerian is a big business hotel with an excellent location and all the comforts. Sunset drinks at the bar by the rooftop pool are near-obligatory.

While it verges on corporate blandness, the Amerian manages to hold it together with a style all its own. The hallways are wide and decorated with the occasional piece of understated artwork. The rooms are as plush as you would expect, and if you can manage to score one on the corner, you'll be in for some fantastic views. On the top floor there's a small gymnasium, a day spa, an excellent little cafe/bar and a surprisingly large rooftop pool area which is heated and open for use year-round.
