Address: 1634 main bazaar, Paharganj , Delhi 110055, India Show on map
Soaking up more sunbeams than the bulk of hotels in congested Paharganj, the Metropolis may not have particularly riveting rooms, but it's still one of this area's optimum mid-range places to stay. It also has a popular rooftop venue, the Metropolis Restaurant & Bar.The lowest-priced rooms are moderately sized and fairly tidy - if devoid of personality - each with a colour TV, fridge and well maintained bathrooms. For a few more rupees you'll get a more spacious room with a separate sitting area replete with writing desk. Some of the furniture is a little shabby, but if you savour space go for one of these rooms instead of the cheaper ones. For those not in the mood to eat out, the Metropolis has two restaurants - one on the ground floor and a more atmospheric one up on the rooftop. We recommend the rooftop restaurant, which is a top spot to settle back with a good book, or, if you're feeling chatty, to strike up conversations with fellow travellers over a beer (there's even Corona) and greasy pakoras. Reliable car rental can also be arranged here.
