Even though the Asia Center is a lot bigger than many of the smaller inns and ryokan (inn) in town, it's often fully booked. Rooms are pleasingly simple, and the hotel has an airy, relaxed attitude to it. Book ahead.

A big, blocky building down a narrow road in Akasaka, the Asia Center has the basics of a business hotel without the oppressively cramped quarters or floral bedspreads. There's a newer annex with updated rooms - but rooms in the old annex have wood-planked walls and a certain charm not often found in most modern Tokyo hotels. Most rooms have views of green space in the courtyard and garden next door, and all are outfitted with decently sized windows to provide good light. All singles have the added blessing of semi-double beds. The Asia Center is located in a quiet neighbourhood, set as it is in a business district, and served by four subway lines within a five-minute walk. Other pluses include internet computers in the lobby, coin-operated laundries on two floors and reasonably priced breakfasts served up in the restaurant.
