This international travel hub offers some of Boston's cheapest beds, in a prime location where Boston's best attractions radiate out in all directions. The staff offers concierge-style services - including scoring cheap passes and providing the beta on what's shaking around town.

This place has a strong community presence, from staging poetry readings and jazz concerts to corralling volunteers to lend a hand around town. Free walking tours and pub-crawls are a frolic. An airy dining room and gleaming kitchen (condiments provided) are all yours for rustling up your own grub. A piano, Internet kiosks (with free wireless in common areas), big-screen TV room (with videos and X-Box and games) and (yesss!) a foosball table keep you entertained if you stay in for the night. All beds are bunks; each has a reading lamp. Free shower shoes, towels and linens are provided, along with hair dryers, bath soap and shampoo. Genders sleep separately and in mixed quarters. Depending on the season, the hostel could be booked for weeks or months, but you might luck into a bunk with just a week's notice.
