The Ace is Belltown in a box: arty, slightly scruffy and cool, but not too-cool-for-you cool. Public spaces are like an art gallery, and each of its 28 immaculate rooms are unique and so fashionable you quickly get the feeling you're the star of your own art film. The Ace's owners come from a design background, and it shows. Whether you choose a room with shared or private bath, expect white on white over hardwood floors, French army blankets, waffle-knit robes, a sink of industrial polished steel, the Kama Sutra and condoms by your bed. You might find art of the Pacific Northwest on the walls, or a piece by avant-garde artist Shepard Fairey of the iconic 'Obey' poster fame. Some rooms have partial bay views, while room 103 has a swingin' door to the bathroom. The 'Ace Space' breakfast room is just as stylish, and there's a coin laundry and barber shop on the premises. There's wireless internet throughout, and pets are welcome too. Obviously this isn't the place for the uptight. It's also not much good for light sleepers, as the always-hopping Cyclops bar and restaurant is just downstairs. Ear plugs are provided.
